Question by Tracy S: which is the best gold mine to go to in North Carolina for gold panning?

Best answer:

Answer by bubba j
Thermal city Gold Mine. My suggestion would be to buy the two front end loader buckets of material and run them thru the trommels that they have there. You will end up with about a 5 gallon bucket of concentrates, and after you pan it out, you should end up with a fair amount of gold. I bought a bag of concentrates for twenty dollars to bring back home, and was extremely pleased with the amount of gold I found. You can also pan from the creek or a pile of dirt from the mine for 5 bucks a day. Within 10 min of Thermal City are 4 other mines that you can visit. From Franklin you would go East on 40 to 221 (Marion). 221 south about 7 miles, it will be on your left. Vein Mountain Gold Camp is right next door.

Question by hockey_goalie31: Reducing blur in panning shots of an HD video (using vegas)?
I'm doing a video right now, and the source video looks fine, but when I render it (wmv 3.6mb/s 720p) using vegas 8 pro, theres alot of blur in panning shots.

Is this a setting related to motion blur, if so what is the ideal one to choose (gaussian/pyramid/etc)

Is this something to do with the mb/s, 3.6 was the lowest, so should I be looking for a higher number?

I watched the video on my ps3, going to a denon receiver, and then to my tv. In this process, since I chose 24p could it be screwing with the frames?

It is very common for people to pan too fast, so I would eliminate that possibility first. You really have to go slow.

Question by EPhantom: What is the science behind gold panning?
What causes the gold to sink to the bottom of a pan when the sediment is swirled around in the pan? I love science greatly, but to my knowledge, the water would apply even force to all of the objects in the pan, and cause them to mix more evenly. :( could someone please explain.

Answer by PaulCyp
Gold is much more dense than other minerals. Therefore it is more resistant to water movement. If you threw a mixture of gold and gravel into several feet of water, all the gold would reach the bottom before the gravel. That's the principle used in panning. Water swirled in the pan lifts the gravel off the bottom of the pan, but the gold stays on the bottom unless the pan is swirled with greater force.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Johnny C: Panning and cropping more than 1 video onto of eachother in Sony Vegas?
Im making a machinima and the 1st video I crop wont stretch fully into the wide screen TV so I was thinking of putting the video on half of the TV and then getting a question mark and cropping it to the other side of the TV but when I put the question mark ontop of the other cropped video it doesnt show up.

So can someone tell me a way to either stretch a video wider or how to crop a video ontop of another cropped video? thanks!

This may sound really confusing but I'll try to explain!

Right click event pan/crop

On the event crop/pan tools you will see this two square-ish icons the top one is to lock aspect ratio click it so that you can unlock it

if you make it smaller, the screen gets smaller

or you can use a preset, I find them really helpful sometimes^_^

well I tried explaing it but i dont know if you understood

Question by John D: What is the best Gold Pan to use for Gold panning?

Best answer:

Answer by Tashkent T
I have a plastic one, it's easier to carry & it's still robust. It has about five riffles coving about 1/4 of it's edge, the other 3/4 are smooth (necessary for the later stages in concentrating the gold).

It looks similar to the black & green plastic pans seen in the webpage below.

Question by Hermione G: How do I create a video with music and panning in and out?
What do I need to create a video like the one linked to below? I would like to put in a DVD. I am interested in the panning in and out of the images, the text that comes in and out between the images, and the music playing while all of this is happening. How do you do this?
Thank you.

--- This will help you....

use windows movie maker (included in your windows machine)... it can help you make beautiful slideshow or video clip(e.g. mixing your songs with pictures/video/lyric/etc).... then save it as video file such as wmv file format... finally upload.

or .. Just get those clips you want , save & convert them, and then mix/match with pix/sound/etc using windows movie maker to create new masterpieces....

this will help you.... Use 'zillatube'. This is the easiest (and also the fastest) way.

Zillatube produces mpg/mp3 formats from youtube that are compatible with windows movie maker(or media player), and more.

It is very easy to download and convert videos. Then edit those converted mp3/mpg videos with windows movie maker... save your file as wmv and then upload.

It works very well....just google search for "zillatube"
