Question by MattMan: In early mining towns in the Amercian West - How did the miners get water? Were their supplies low? HELP!?
Trying to do my coursework --
In the American West, when there was gold mining going on did the miners get their water by irrigation systems, from the mountains? Or did they Pan for it, and where?
PLEASE HELP!!
I really need to get this done TONIGHT.
Thank you.
Best answer:
Answer by Vince M One does not "pan" for water. Water is present when one pans for gold.
The water would typically be a river or stream or, in some cases a lakeshore.
If there was an irrigation system available, it would mean that someone already owned that land and was trying to grow crops on it. That owner would most certainly NOT welcome miners coming onto that property and taking out valuable gold.
Miners did, often band together to move water to a more convienient location by building sluices, or wooden aquedutcts to a place where they could screen the silt, carried by these sluices for the heavier minerals, such as gold.
In certain kinds of mining operations, called placer mining, water was pumped up to a high pressure, and hoses were used to blast cliffsides, hopefully containing gold and gold bearing rocks to be sluiced and panned downstream.

Question by Mj: How about gold ore and gold mining equipment design?
Best answer:
Answer by Celia Wang The mainstream gold ore dressing technology is generally through the ore dressing equipment (crusher) to broken gold ore, and then sent into the gold beneficiation (Ball mill) to be smashed and grinded. After the gravity separation and flotation, concentrate ore and tailings are extracted, and then by using chemical methods and final smelting, the finished product eventually become gold.
Gold crusher can also be employed since the major crusher for crushing gold ore in gold ore crushing industry. Jaw crusher will be the most typical gold mining gear for crushing ore. Jaw crusher can attain the crushing ratio of 4-6 as nicely as the form of last item is even. So gold jaw curshers are broadly utilized to crush substantial hardness, mid hardness and gentle rocks and ores just like slags, design materials, marble, etc.

Question by AirGear/GSD Fan: What equipments do you use for hard metal mining? (mining gold)??
Best answer:
Answer by deo In the olden days humans usd crude tools to dig for gold. But at present miners used a wide range of equipment to extract the rocks that contain gold fom the ground.
Equipment that are normally used are all earhmoving gears such as bulldozers, backhoe, excavators etc. WHEN it is hard they bore holes for blasting the rocks.

Question by : What is the best metal detector for gold mining in creeks and rivers?
Hi... i've been watching a lot of videos online about panning for gold and such.
First and foremost, no... i don't expect to get rich with it, but i do think it would make for an interesting vacation idea in the spring for my friends and family.
So, with that in mind, I'm looking for people's opinions about metal detectors. A Professional's point of view would be appreciated.
I know that there are dozens of types of metal detectors, and that some are better for specific things than others. some will pick up specs of gold or other metals at more shallow, or deeper depths, while some will pick up smaller pieces than others....
what i'm looking for are maybe 2 or 3 types.. one that will pick up super fine "dust" on the surface, another that will pick up decent sized nuggets up to a few feet under the ground,
and another that will pick up small nuggets at various depths... of course the second and 3rd one can be combined, but.... some are more accurate than others as far as field of range ... meaning, exactly WHERE it is located. if it has a huge head on it, it could be anywhere inside of that head.... if it has a narrow head the same applies...
see my point?
Anyway, any help is appreciated in these regards..
Thanks

Question by Morvudd: Rare substances and elements worth mining for?
For a sci-fi novel, which allows rather large 'artistic licensing', assume that core elements such as nickel could be mined/extracted and used as fuel.
Are there any compounds/materials/elements that could even REMOTELY fit the bill, as it were?
If so, how could one extract it? (You mine or pan for gold, you mine for iron ore, etc...)
Also, imagine that this is on a distant planet with no access to earth or any of its tools or features.
Again, this is for a sci-fi western novel, and I thought it would be cute to have prospectors mine for gold on a distant planet. I was thinking: oh, maybe to make things involve chemistry, it can be a different element!
That's the basic premise.

Answer by Harry The only thing I can think of is Uranium, or some other type of radioactive substance. It can be used in a nuclear reactor to produce energy.

Question by dogazzmee_cowshidiknow: where can i find small scale gold mining equipment/ website?
i came accross a site about a year ago that was a small one or two man aperatus. it was a stainless steel funnel about knee high. You drop the dirt in and pour water in as needed and you step on the pedal and it spun around and slung all the lighter trash out and the heavier metals stayed in. I have been trying to relocate this site to purchase one...but I am having no luck. has anyone seen anything of this sort? thanks

Answer by Metals&more Camp Williams on the San Gabriel River still has some gold. It's 30 miles north of Azusa and deep in the Angeles National Forest. http://www.latimes.com/news/la-071407-me-gold-m,0,2942986.mapimage?coll=la-tot-topstories Also, the state of California lists 16 sites as "active gold mines." Most of them in Northern California's Gold Country. http://www.consrv.ca.gov/CGS/minerals/images/YellowAu.pdf

Question by Real: equipments needed in Gold Ore Mining?
what kinds of equipment should i choose in Gold Ore Mining?
Best answer:
Answer by she De Gold Ore Mining Application
Gold Ore Mining Application
Gold Ore Properties
Hardness:6
Composition:Carbon Quartz Pyrite Gold
Hard rock gold mining is done when the gold is encased in rock, rather than found as particles in loose sediment. Hard rock mining produces most of the world's gold.
Gold Ore Processing Introduction:
1.Rock is eliminated through the mine.Rock that contains gold, is hauled for the Crushing Facility. Rock without the need of gold is used for the overburden storage space areas.
2.Large haul vans are applied to proceed the rock through the Mine for the crushing Facility, or for the overburden storage space areas.
3.Ore is processed on the two point Crushing and Screening Facility, and hauled for the Valley Leach Facility.
4.The Valley Leath Facility may be a lined, zero discharge place in which dilute sodium cyanide procedure option dissolves the gold, and is also captured from the bottom in the lined area.
5.The gold is recovered through the procedure option having a carbon adsorption process. The last product or service may be a gold and silver key named Dore.
To separate the gold through the ore collected through the diggers from the mine tunnel, the ore was 1st crushed with a sequence of hammers from the stamper head. The crushed ore was then operate more than copper plates that experienced been treated with cyanide after which tinned with "quick-silver" (mercury). Mercury includes a substance affinity to gold and therefore catches it. The resulting mixture was then heated to evaporate the mercury right up until only the gold remained. This technique of extraction was applied for several many years even though it absolutely was normally accepted that it absolutely was only 60% effective.
